My name is John Pfleeger and I was born in a small Northwest Iowa town. By some stroke of good fortune, I managed to live there for 18 years without losing an appendage in some horrific farm equipment accident. Not wanting to push my luck, I headed off to college where there are significatly fewer tractors. After college, I moved on to Kansas City, then Boston and now the Chicago area. About four years ago I decided I’d had enough of working for “The Man” and decided I’d work for “The Baby.” My wife and I had one and now another so instead of just having one boss, I had two. Three if you count my lovely wife.
Not many people know this but I can say with an uncommon amount of conviction that raising children is hard. When you throw in the fact that you have to feed them, change diapers, and otherwise make sure they remain fuctional as little human beings? Nearly impossible. So with this knowledge I steeled my delicate sensibilities and prepared to enter the work force once again. A year ago, I started working for a small branding/design agency in Chicago.
When I’m not sitting in front of a computer, I’m trying to keep the children from falling down stairs, sticking their fingers into electrical outlets, or finding other ways to cause themselves bodily harm. I’m a half-assed guitar player and an even worse golfer. Those two facts do not stop me from trying. I’m also a struggling photographer and chronic doodler (mostly on one of those magnetic doodle pads they sell for two year olds). I have over 15 years of design experience. From concept to production. Some of brands I’ve worked with and for are Bissell, Jack Daniel’s, Stolichnaya, Wellborn Cabinets and Shop-Vac.
